Modesty – Virtue of the Week

Modesty – Virtue of the Week

25 April – 1 May 2016

Modesty – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week

Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Modesty

Modesty – What does this card say to you today?

Modesty is knowing you are enough. You are quietly confident of your self worth and know that you don’t have to flaunt your talents in front of others. You KNOW you are enough and that’s all you need to know.

You are comfortable in your own skin and have no desire to impress others, you know who you are and you are happy with yourself.

You are grateful for what you have in life and for everything you have achieved in every aspect of your life and are happy to share your success with those that have helped you reach your goals. You are grateful for the support and encouragement of others and also offer support and encouragement to others in return.

You are happy with yourself, and thankful for your confidence & humility.

How to practice Modesty:

For young adults & adults:

  • Be mindful of when you are being confident (modest) and when you are striving to impress others.
  • Consider ways you respect your body – or could respect your body
  • Know yourself – do you have any unrealistic expectations of yourself that you need to eliminate?

For child care centres & schools:

  • Ask children who they admire that practices modesty
  • Brainstorm about different way the body can be respected
  • Create an activity where children explore who helps them succeed and how they can thank that person

For families:

  • Respect your bodies – do an activity together such as go for a daily walk
  • Have reasonable expectations of yourself – and each other
  • Be thankful for what you have as a family

For businesses & organisations:

  • Practice balance & moderation – be mindful of overdoing
  • Share successes within teams and as a company
  • Celebrate accomplishments with gratitude
