Purposefulness – there’s a reason

Purposefulness – there’s a reason

7-13 January 2019

It is said that everything happens for a reason. There’s a reason for everything although we don’t always know what it is at the time, we know how we feel and when you feel good you know that you are on the right track. When you do not feel good you often realize that you have gone off track and need to find your way to get back on track which is often character building.

To some people their purpose in life is clear to them, others may discover it during the course of their life’s journey or you may be living it without realizing it – it’s whatever makes you happy and gives you a sense of contentment, fulfillment and purpose.

Being truly present in everything you do and striving to do it to the best of your ability provides a sense of purposefulness as you concentrate on the task at hand. Once completed you feel satisfied and happy with yourself once a project has been completed. You’ve closed the loop.

It is easy to forget that we are all here to serve one another and that you impact others throughout your day so be mindful that as you work with your colleagues to fulfill a task or whether you serve the public you have the opportunity to impact their life for the better.

It is also said that everyone we meet teaches us something. While you may learn lessons from others be aware that they are also learning from you. What is it you want to share and teach them?

The greatest challenge in life is to be our own person and accept that being different is a blessing and not a curse. – Kilroy J. Oldster

How do you build character? You focus on one characteristic a week. Often when people go through challenging times in their life they are referred to as character building opportunities. We strive to help you build your character on a weekly basis so that when you go through challenging times, as we all do, you will be better equipped emotionally and mentally to tackle and cope with what life throws at you. By joining our tribe you will not only contribute by creating the world you want to live in – you will inspire others to do the same. Be the change you want to see in the world. Make a difference.

How to practice the ‘Character Of The Week’ (5 mins a day max.):

  • Every morning: 1) Read the card; 2) Reflect on what the card is saying to you right now; 3) Have a great day by trusting that this characteristic will come to mind at the right time during your day
  • Every evening: 1) Reflect whether, when and how you strengthened this characteristic today; 2) if you did strengthen it be proud of who you are; if you didn’t strengthen that characteristic what would do differently next time if you got the opportunity.
  • Life is all about living and learning – and taking action – enjoy!
