Awe – Nature is Awesome!

Awe – Nature is Awesome!

6-12 August 2018

Awe – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week

Nature is awesome, isn’t it? Do you ever feel really excited to the core when standing and admiring what nature has to offer? Man has created many wondrous things but we could never compete with what Mother Nature has provided for us to enjoy.

Not only do we have absolutely breath-taking beautiful spots located throughout the world for us to admire, nature also has an amazing healing power that always seems to restore our souls if we let it. When we take time to revel in nature’s magnificence and breathe in the fresh air we often see things from a different, better perspective.

When just sitting and admiring nature’s splendour while reflecting on where you currently are in life you will often discover other viewpoints which you may not have thought of previously. Watching how the wind, sun, rain, fire and earth all interact can be destructive and also assists in new growth – just like us, when we go through a crisis in our lives we often come out stronger in many ways.

Every spot on earth is different, just as every human is different and we can be harmful and hurtful or we can be beneficial and be encouraging to one another, what impact do you want to make on the world and those around you? We all have our bad days and we all have our good days, which one do you let outweigh the other?

When is the last time you took time out and looked at nature in all its glory and reflected on what the fork in the tree was telling you – or what the waves were saying to you as they rolled in and rolled out? Take the time to enjoy nature even if it means just going to the local park and soaking up the sunshine or sitting in the cool shade of a tree. Breathe in, breathe out – enjoy.

Self-development means constant transformation throughout your life – allow the ‘Virtue of the Week’ to serve as a gentle reminder of who you are and who you want to be. Help create the world you want to live in as you practice a virtue each week you also serve as a positive example to others and inspire others to do the same. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Actions to take to practice Awe:

  • Every morning:
    1. Read the card
    2. If you feel the need take a few minutes to reflect on what it means to you right now
    3. Trust that at the right time during the day this virtue will come to mind and you will know when to act on it
  • Every evening:
    1. Take a few minutes to reflect on how you applied this virtue in your life today
    2. If you didn’t practice it, learn from your experiences by considering what you would do differently next time. If you did practice it then acknowledge yourself for doing so as it increases your self-awareness and self-confidence.
    3. Acknowledge yourself when you do apply this virtue in your life. You will become more self-aware and more confident within yourself.
