Confidence – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week

Confidence – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week

9-15 July 2018

Self-confidence is something many people think everyone else has that they don’t have. Self-confidence is a lifelong journey that impacts on every aspect of our lives, and every day of our lives.

Every day you learn something new, you meet new people, you have new experiences, you go to new places and each of these requires confidence. You practice self-confidence when you walk out your door and head to your work, your school, your workplace. You have confidence in knowing where you are going and how to get there.

That’s the secret to everything in life. Each time you go somewhere new, or meet someone new, or did something new, it’s just the first time and it is what it is – new! If you did that action as frequently as you walked out your front door you would become much more confident in any task.

Acknowledge yourself for what you do that’s new and just keep doing it until you feel comfortable (not perfect). Everything you do requires effort and skill, as well as attitude, so if you choose to pick a good attitude (because it is a choice) then you’ve got it made, and you’ll find that you can become confident in anything you choose to do in life.

Life feels good when you go forth with confidence – and anyone worth having in your life will support you in helping you achieve that – and you’ll find that many strangers will assist you on your way too. Enjoy the journey!

Want to keep growing as a person? Personal development is a constant transformation – allow the Virtue of the Week to serve as a gentle reminder of who you are and who you want to be. Help create the world you want to live in – as you practice a virtue each week you also serve as a positive example to others and inspire others to do the same. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Actions to take to practice Confidence:

  • Every morning:
    1. Read the card
    2. If you feel the need take a few minutes to reflect on what it means to you right now
    3. Trust that at the right time during the day this virtue will come to mind and you will know when to act on it
  • Every evening:
    1. Take a few minutes to reflect on how you applied this virtue in your life today
    2. If you didn’t practice it, learn from your experiences by considering what you would do differently next time. If you did practice it then acknowledge yourself for doing so as it increases your self-awareness and self-confidence.
    3. Acknowledge yourself when you do apply this virtue in your life. You will become more self-aware and more confident within yourself.
