12 Mar Detachment – Virtue of the Week
13-19 March 2017
Detachment – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week
Be the best version of yourself you can be.
Ways of practicising Detachment:
- Know that you control your responses which are different from reactions – you can choose to act differently to how you may feel
- View things from different perspectives and different viewpoints – have you read the Six Hats by Edward De Bono?
- Listen, really listen – and be aware of when you ‘shut down’ and want to respond – go back to listening because that’s when you learn
How to use this card:
Being mindful of a virtue each day will change your world and ours.
- Read this card each morning.
- At the end of each day take five minutes to reflect on your actions in regard to this virtue.
- Acknowledge yourself for how you displayed this virtue, or if you had the opportunity to practice the virtue and didn’t, then ask yourself what you would do differently next time – use it as a learning.
- You will find that over time you become much more in control of your feelings & emotions and grow emotionally, intellectually & spiritually stronger day by day.
