Encouragement

Words of encouragement and support

Who provides your child with words of encouragement and support?

As a parent, it’s important to provide your child with positive encouragement and support. Encouragement should come from a parent who has a generous and giving heart towards their child. This type of encouragement helps children feel supported and motivated to take action that will benefit them and move them forward in life.

Encouragement is a lifelong gift from a parent to a child because it helps them to grow and develop character traits that will serve them throughout their life. As a parent, you can encourage positive thoughts and behaviours by teaching and instilling values within your child. This helps them to know what to look for in friendships and other relationships.

To support your child’s growth, it’s important to help them become more self-aware and know what they need to do when faced with life’s challenges. Everyone needs support, confidence, and motivation during difficult times. As a parent, knowing what words to express and what behaviours to encourage is crucial.

Here are three ways to encourage your child:

1. Help your child see their strengths and abilities. Focus on one character trait each week and help your child understand the traits within them that they can call upon whenever needed. This enables them to see what they are capable of and have an understanding of their abilities.

2. Help your child bounce back from setbacks and failures. As your child develops a “knowing” of their strengths and abilities, they can use them to overcome life’s challenges. This builds confidence and empowers them to make choices about their actions and behaviour.

3. Be your child’s cheerleader and help them feel good about themselves. Instead of using judgmental language like “good” or “bad,” focus on positive character traits like “responsible,” “helpful,” and “kind.” Praise your child when you see positive behaviour and encourage them to see the positive traits within themselves.

By focusing on a different character trait each week and encouraging your child to take action in relation to that word, you can help them grow their self-awareness and awareness of what they want from others. Support your child by being their cheerleader, showing them the strengths you see within them, and helping them to see the positive traits within themselves.

If you would like to teach your child more values, please feel free to join my private FB group, ‘Raising Kids With Integrity’, where I share a character trait each week that I encourage you to share with your child so that it helps them gain a better awareness of their thoughts, feelings and goals.

I also share how to have a healthy conversation with your child to build these character traits in them with ease.
