Excellence is continually improving

What is important right now?

What do you want to excel in right now? Is there something that you want to improve or change up? This week we’re focussing on excellence. You may have noticed that by concentrating on one word a week, you bring that word to fruition. Excellence is constantly improving and growing in more ways than one.

Firstly you realise what it is you want to improve, manage better or do that you haven’t been doing. It could be some area of your life that has been frustrating you or realising there’s some skills or knowledge that you want to gain or obtain.

Acknowledge yourself

Alternatively, you might also like to acknowledge yourself for how you have improved in some regions of your life. Daily we all change. Physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. It’s just easier to see the physical side of it, but that’s not always so obvious immediately either. Have you ever seen someone on an almost daily basis and one day they show up, and it seems like they have lost a lot of weight overnight?

Of course, they didn’t do it overnight, but it’s amazing how the brain works, and we don’t notice it beforehand. You could be working away at something, and although others may not see immediate change taking place, you know it is happening gradually.

Acknowledge yourself for what you know you are working on, and the progress you are making. Your progress may not be where you want it to be right now, but it is progress all the same. You are moving forward – keep heading in the direction you want to go.

Character building

As you focus on one characteristic a week, you may have noticed a change in yourself. You feel more centred, more grounded. You think you are growing in every other way, other than physical. However, depending on what you are focussing on, such as weight loss, building muscle, daily exercise, you could also be changing physically.

Character grows and develops throughout your whole life. Characteristics, also known as virtues, are what we all have within all of us. Everyone feels seen when you recognise the qualities in them when they display them. It’s a great way to compliment people as well as see the positive in any situation.

Start from now

Regardless of what has happened in the past today is the first day of the rest of your life. Everything that has happened before now has got you to where you are now, and if you are not content and happy with where you are now, you can set a goal for where you want to be and go for it.

It doesn’t matter what you aim for you can achieve it when you focus on excellence, which is focussing on improvement and mastering something that you’d like to be good or better at. Naturally, that includes being the best person you can be.

Kindness is the default

When you can’t remember what the characteristic of the week is, always focus on kindness. There are many stories of how even a simple smile or simple gesture has made a massive impact on other people’s lives. You never honestly know what someone is dealing with or going through or have been through previously, which makes them act like they. When you focus on one characteristic, you find you are practising more than one.

What you need to remember, which people often forget, is that you are included in the big picture, being kind to others should not be at your expense. Kindness, justice, wisdom – they all include you. Use your senses and if someone or something does not serve you remove yourself from the person, or persons or the situation. Be kind to yourself.
