Fidelity

Fidelity – is about keeping a personal agreement such as a promise and remaining faithful to the promise made to each other.

This could be about a 1:1 relationship or a group of friends. It’s being loyal to those you love and this includes yourself. It’s always important to remember that whatever promise you make means living to your own integrity and personal dignity.

It’s living by promises that serve you such as keep a secret between friends. Making the decision to not say anything bad about anyone – something that’s hurtful.

While teaching kids about fidelity it’s important to let them know about secrets that aren’t good to keep because of a threat or a person being in danger.

And that having a friend, and being a friend, that you can tell personal things to and know they’ll honour their word – things that are personal but not hurtful to anyone.

Every character traits has positives and negatives to it and nothing is black and white – just like life. Teach children that there is always another perspective and nothing is black and white and we all make choices based on what we feel is right for us and that we learn along the way – all of us.

Help your child to navigate their way in life by letting them know you’re always there for them and that it’s important to not be judgemental about others as we are all living and learning.
