Foresight – Wisdom & Thoughtfulness

What is foresight?

Foresight is a mixture of so many things, including wisdom and thoughtfulness. Therefore it means having a good understanding of how one action may lead to another step and the short and long term consequences that are likely, or possible to happen, according to specific choices made.

Listen within

Foresight is internal. For instance, thoughts popping into your head, ideas that pop into your mind, and concepts that your brain creates. Whatever has happened in your history has to lead you to where you are now, the choices you have made have contributed to your current situation. Whether your outcome was positive or negative, there was a lesson within your experience, and it is often the hard negative experiences that teach us profound lessons.

Trust yourself

Trusting your instincts is equal to trusting yourself. Sometimes it requires taking a risk. At times, it does not make sense logically. Above all, sometimes, all you’ve got to go on is that it feels right. Whether this is removing yourself from a situation, taking a particular action, or deciding not to do something. You may have a calling, something that keeps cropping up in your head and the feeling that there is a specific purpose that keeps calling you and there is something you must do with your life.

Don’t be hard on yourself

OK, so you have made some mistakes in your life. Who hasn’t? What is essential to recognise is what you have learnt from your experience. Do you have a fixed mindset about something or someone? Do you lack a growth mindset? Is that keeping you stuck? For example, whatever challenging situation you find yourself in, big or small, there is a solution. There is a saying that states Every problem has a solution, and Mel Robbins said that if your problem can be solved by action, then you don’t have a problem. Don’t you love that these sayings immediately get you to think about how you can overcome your problem and what you need to do about it? So, listen to your instinct here as the answer is within you.

The balance of foresight

Foresight is great to have, and we all have it, but like all characteristics, you need to develop them consistently, that’s what self-development is all about. We all use our foresight in some areas of our life and not in other areas of our life, so part of using your wisdom is to learn from others, which can be done simply through conversation and observation. For example, be thoughtful, consider others and how you can help them, think about whether you are getting what you want from life and let your thoughts and actions – be kind, be kind, be kind.
