Grace – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week

Grace – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week

25 June – 1 July 2018

Grace, faith, trust – all these virtues seem to be very closely related. Graceful is how some people’s behaviour is described, the way they act, treat others, look and have a sense of peacefulness around them regardless of what is happening in their life.

A contentment within, an inner knowing that whatever happens there is a reason and that all will turn out well in the end – what an amazing state to be in when faced with challenging tests during one’s lifetime.

Grace is also treating people in a way that conveys kindness, caring, compassion, understanding, acceptance, respect, and courtesy. Treating people in a graceful manner is a very attractive character quality which is inspiring and attracts people like a moth to a flame.

Really connecting with others is often a result of ‘being present’ and listening to what they have to say and sharing your time and wisdom without allowing the negatives impacts of ego or power raise their ugly head. Being truly present by giving your total presence to the person is the gift you can give anyone who values it.

Being graceful in challenging and difficult situations is possible when you do what is best for everyone concerned (and remember yourself when I say everyone) by doing what needs to be done or said in the most tactful way. What is it you need to do and how best can you do it?

Want to keep developing as a person? Personal growth is a constant transformation – allow the Virtue of the Week to serve as a gentle reminder of who you are and who you want to be. Help create the world you want to live in – as you practice a virtue each week you also serve as a positive example to others and inspire others to do the same. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Actions to take to practice Grace:

  • Every morning:
    1. Read the card
    2. If you feel the need take a few minutes to reflect on what it means to you right now
    3. Trust that at the right time during the day this virtue will come to mind and you will know when to act on it
  • Every evening:
    1. Take a few minutes to reflect on how you applied this virtue in your life today
    2. If you didn’t practice it, learn from your experiences by considering what you would do differently next time. If you did practice it then acknowledge yourself for doing so as it increases your self awareness and self confidence.
    3. Acknowledge yourself when you do apply this virtue in your life. You will become more self aware and more confident within yourself.
