Promoting Positive Perspectives

Raising your child with hope by promoting a positive perspective is essential in today’s society.

So many children have anxiety and consequently suffer from stress.

Hope is an emotion that impacts every area of one’s life. Without hope, life is not worth living.

With hope, life can be magical.

Emotionally, life can be draining and difficult without hope.

Just a change of perspective can change the negative into a positive.

When your child expresses a negative comment, you can ask your child ‘What would you like to be different?’, then listen to their answer.

The next question you might like to ask is ‘So what needs to be done to make that happen?’.

Share with your child that Hope has a friend called ‘Action’.

We are more likely to become fitter and healthier when we take action by exercising, whether it be going for a daily walk, playing sports or eating healthy food.

You are your child’s role model.

Whatever expressions you might say regularly enter your child’s subconscious mind.

They’ll remember something you often said long after you’re gone. Then they’re likely to tell it to their children, your grandchildren.

Make your words positive. Be inspirational to your child.

Help them realise that by changing their negative thoughts to positive ones and taking action to fulfil their dreams so they know they can achieve whatever they desire.

When you promote a positive perspective mindset in your children, they will be able to recognise negative thoughts and know they have the power within them to change them around.

Challenges and difficulties are a part of everyone’s life, and acquiring the skills to manage them is empowering and lasts a lifetime.

Frequently remind your children of the famous quote ‘There is light at the end of the tunnel’.

You can teach your child that it just takes the blink of an eye to change this – literally.

Ask a child to close their eyes. All they see is darkness, no light. But when they open their eyes and minds, the light suddenly appears.

Teaching your child about hope and constantly promoting a positive perspective enables them to problem-solve, embrace change and overcome obstacles.

Instilling hope in your child has a positive psychological impact as they are more likely to build positive personal relationships, develop resilience and the ability to cope with whatever comes their way plus have higher self-esteem.

What parent wouldn’t want that for their child?

Oh, there are heaps of inspirational and motivational resources in the world – a movie your child might like is titled Rudy – I love movies based on true stories, and this is one of them.
