Inspiration moves you forward

What is inspiration?

Inspiration moves you forward and invigorates you to want to take action. You feel encouraged, motivated and on purpose. Creative ideas flood your mind of what you can achieve and what impact that will have on yourself and others.

Who inspires you?

All of us have someone who inspires us, and we can all think of someone in our lives who we admire. You probably have more than one person who inspires you, all for different reasons.

Age is irrelevant as our children also teach us many valuable lessons, in addition to wanting to be the best parent you can so you can help them face whatever life throws their way.

Everyone we meet, we learn from so take in the lesson that you feel they entered your life for and learn from it.

Challenging times

You have, and will continue to have challenging times in your life. It could involve dealing with difficult people; it could include life experiences concerning situations that you have found yourself in. Whatever challenging circumstances you experience, you will overcome them and potentially discover how you can help others overcome the same, or similar issues.

Lessons learnt

Every challenging experience you have had in life has strengthened you spiritually. You have become more understanding about a particular issue, and you understand more about mental health, you have overcome challenging times due to having hope, faith and trust that it will be all right in the end. You are now in the position to help others who are going through the challenges you did.

For example, this morning, I was reading about how Steve Smith, Australian cricketer, overcame the ‘Sandpapergate’ period of his life. Steve stated that he had family & friends that he could talk to when he was struggling mentally and consequently now speaks at schools about that issue and has made a massive impact. Teenagers on the brink of suicide have requested help due to his talks, others have opened up to their parents about the challenges they are having, including bullying, homosexuality and school attendance.

Although Steve is likely to go down in history as one of the world’s great cricketers, he is more likely, when all is said and done, to be prouder of the positive impact he has made on these young adults. Ironically he would not have made this impact without first going through the personal challenges he worked through because of ‘Sandpapergate’. Every problem brings you out on the other side. You need to work your way through it.

The balance of inspiration

There is a difference between someone being an inspiration to you, and you compare them to yourself. Being inspired by someone is fantastic when it inspires you to move forward in your life in a positive way. However, when you start to compare yourself with another person that can be the start of negative thinking. We are all different, yet we are all the same.

You don’t know someone else’s full story; you only are aware of part of their story. Remember, we all have ups and downs in life, including the people who inspire you. You never know what someone else has gone through and have yet to go through.

Everyone we meet impacts our life and ours theirs. Your behaviour inspires people in one way or another. Sometimes people want to be more like you because of how you behave, or you may encourage them not to follow your example. You will be more of inspiration if you treat people kindly, so always – be kind, be kind, be kind.
