Love – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week

Love – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week

16-22 July 2018

Love

So much could be said about love. Love has so many directions – love of people, love of animals, love of plants, love of nature, love of music, love of art, love of ideas, love of technology, love of anything that makes you feel good.

At the centre of all that, and to truly appreciate everything around you it is important to have love of self. When you love yourself, you know you deserve to have everything you could hope for in life. You give yourself the time to do what brings you joy because when you are happy and content then you bring your best self to life and can give your best self to your family, your job and whatever you are passionate about.

Love like everything else in life requires balance and moderation. What about power, money and ego? There is a fine line with all things in life as some things can be used to abuse while at the same time could also be used to make a positive difference in our world.

Ego is required to ensure you treat yourself well by caring for yourself and giving yourself the time it takes to do what brings you joy, peace and contentment each day such as starting your day with a walk or a meditation practice. What do you do for yourself?

Money could be used to help the less fortunate and make changes to improve living standards throughout the world. Everyone is in a position of power. You have influence on other people’s life as you are arole model to the younger generation. You may hold a position of influence within your personal or professional life. Ultimately though, you are the director of your own life’s story – do you love yourself enough to get out of life what you want from it while also serving the world?

Want to keep growing as a person? Personal development is a constant transformation – allow the Virtue of the Week to serve as a gentle reminder of who you are and who you want to be. Help create the world you want to live in – as you practice a virtue each week you also serve as a positive example to others and inspire others to do the same. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Actions to take to practice Love:

  • Every morning:
    1. Read the card
    2. If you feel the need take a few minutes to reflect on what it means to you right now
    3. Trust that at the right time during the day this virtue will come to mind and you will know when to act on it
  • Every evening:
    1. Take a few minutes to reflect on how you applied this virtue in your life today
    2. If you didn’t practice it, learn from your experiences by considering what you would do differently next time. If you did practice it then acknowledge yourself for doing so as it increases your self-awareness and self-confidence.
    3. Acknowledge yourself when you do apply this virtue in your life. You will become more self-aware and more confident within yourself.
