Orderliness – Easy or Hard?

Orderliness – Easy or Hard?

11-17 March 2019

Is being organised easy or hard? There are people who are naturally gifted at orderliness and others can find it a definite challenge. There are times when organised people go through challenging times in their life and find they don’t have things in order as they would like to. There are others whose desks look in disarray yet they know where everything is although nobody else could hazard a guess where something specific was.

We all have boundaries about what level of organisation and being orderly we are willing to tolerant in our lives and whatever our choice it impacts on others. We all have our differences and our boundaries and being self-aware just means you know yours.

Regardless of what boundaries you have and how you run your house it is important that there be balance and moderation as sometimes a house doesn’t feel like a home – how do you think others feel in your home? Alternatively have you so much stuff everywhere that you, or your family members are not comfortable inviting others around?

While the KonMari method is sweeping the world at the moment, and knowing that when I clear my clutter I feel clearer in my mind, I realised that I have never seen a TV show that helps people get organised and helps them clear their clutter (regardless of whether it’s a lot or a little) I realised that everybody I have seen who goes through this process expresses happiness and joy at the end result.

Orderliness is both easy and hard. It can be hard to instigate and take the action to get things into order but once a sense of order has been achieved things are so much easier to find. Then it’s hard again to maintain the new habit, but once actions to override old habits are achieved it’s easy again. Life is full of ups and downs, hard things and easy things – wherever you’re at, think, and take action, about what area of your life you want to get into order. Then just take the next step.

“Without order in your life, you will realize that you will only be busy but without commensurate results.”  ― Sunday Adelaja

How do you build character? You focus on one characteristic a week. You discover that when the opportunity arises to practice the characteristic you will know when and how to apply it. Characteristics aren’t something that you gain and then you have. You constantly ‘become’ who you wish to be – life is a journey after all, not a destination. The ride is easier when you focus on deepening and strengthing your characteristics – especially when times are tough – you become more resilient – and wiser.
