Peacefulness – Stressed or Relaxed?

Peacefulness – Stressed or Relaxed?

What is peacefulness?

Don’t you love the word peacefulness? The name alone brings a sense of peacefulness to your very being. You feel more relaxed than stressed, just hearing the word – or even just thinking of it. So what is it? It’s this calmness inside of you that radiates out of you.

How to feel at peace

We’re all different, yet we’re all the same. Having a sense of calm takes time. It doesn’t happen overnight. I believe that having a sense of peace occurs gradually. Your life brings many experiences, and some of them are not so pleasant. Feeling at peace is a feeling that comes from the inside. The not so enjoyable experiences often come from outside of yourself.

Stressed to the max

External forces can stress you to the max, it could be a person, or it could be an object. People are unnecessarily unkind and can say or do things that are hurtful to others. It is important to remember that their behaviour, what they do or say, says more about them than it does you.

They are reflecting to the world how they are feeling. The more you understand and realise this, the less this behaviour impacts you. Observe action, don’t take it on within you.

An object that doesn’t work – a car, a printer, a computer can stress you out also – unfortunately this is something you can’t ignore – time to step up and call on your other character traits – acceptance, creativity, initiative, thoughtfulness – whatever it takes to get it sorted.

Ask for what you need

If you need help, ask for it. Whatever your concerns at the moment some people are there for you, some of them know you, some of them don’t. Somebody once said education is the movement from darkness to light – I believe that to be true because you don’t know what you don’t know, so ask, and search for what you want.

YouTube is my go-to to discover everything. There are also many inspirational talks on Ted Talks – some of which suggest you visual what you want from life every morning. I often ask for a good parking spot right where I’m heading to – and guess what I get? Yep, my friends are always amazed that I have a parking angel. I’m amazed too sometimes – and always so grateful!

The balance of peacefulness

At first, I wondered about whether peacefulness requires balance, but I believe everything characteristic does. Sometimes people are so chilled out they lack action. Sometimes people seem at peace, but everything is bubbling away beneath the surface. Sometimes you feel that everyone else has it together and you don’t. Guess what? Everybody has struggles, and the people who you think are inspirational leaders are just that – they continue to lead because they don’t give up and keep going. So who do you want to be? Whatever you decide, always remember that everyone is struggling with something, it just might not be evident to you so treat people how you want to be treated – always be kind, be kind, be kind.
