Perseverance – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week

Perseverance – Characteristic / Virtue of the Week

2-8 July 2018

Is there something that you’re aiming for but not quite getting there? Are you aware of what it is that’s stopping you from achieving what it is you want in life? Do you wish to create, change or improve something in your life?

If it’s important to you you’ll keep at it – if it’s not you’ll stop. If it’s important you’ll come back to it so why stop this time if sooner or later you know you’re going to return to give it another go. Just keep going now so you can life the life you want to sooner rather than later. What is it you are waiting for?  You already know that you could be waiting forever if you’re depending on someone else to do it for you don’t you?

Firstly, you need to be honest and truthful with yourself about what’s stopping you. Are you being consistent and finish what you start?

Secondly, you need to decide what it is you need to do to keep moving forward in the direction you want – that could mean setting up a schedule to fit everything in that you need to do, it could mean asking a friend to hold you accountable, or it might even mean paying a coach to do that if you feel a friend would let you off the hook. You know what your next step needs to be so just do it.

Thirdly, you need to start every day with something that puts you in the right space – it could be mean going for a walk, catching up with a friend for coffee (& inspiration), making a list, taking time out for reflection or having a group pow-wow, whatever it is just take the next small step – that’s exactly what all the past creators and imagineers have done to make a difference in our world. You can too.

Want to keep growing as a person? Personal development is a constant transformation – allow the Virtue of the Week to serve as a gentle reminder of who you are and who you want to be. Help create the world you want to live in – as you practice a virtue each week you also serve as a positive example to others and inspire others to do the same. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Actions to take to practice Perseverance:

  • Every morning:
    1. Read the card
    2. If you feel the need take a few minutes to reflect on what it means to you right now
    3. Trust that at the right time during the day this virtue will come to mind and you will know when to act on it
  • Every evening:
    1. Take a few minutes to reflect on how you applied this virtue in your life today
    2. If you didn’t practice it, learn from your experiences by considering what you would do differently next time. If you did practice it then acknowledge yourself for doing so as it increases your self awareness and self confidence.
    3. Acknowledge yourself when you do apply this virtue in your life. You will become more self aware and more confident within yourself.
