Reverence

What Reverence Means

Understanding reverence can be complex – let alone teach the idea to a child.

Breaking down complex concepts makes it easy to explain to a child and gain a clearer understanding for ourselves, such as what reverence means.

The dictionary defines reverence as a deep respect or a state of being revered.

However, breaking down concepts to a child can be done in numerous ways. Using metaphors are helpful in assisting a child to understand meanings.

Therefore, reverence can be explained simply to a child by their parents.

In brief, reverence is knowing something extraordinary is around us, and it feels right.

When we worship something, we appreciate it because we think and feel it’s part of our intent; even though we can’t see or hear it, it feels right.

Nonetheless, there are many people throughout the world who have different perspectives on what they revere, which means respect deeply.

Consequently, people show what they revere in different ways.

For example, having a religious belief, an appreciation and love of animals, or the ocean, and the mysteries of our solar system.

Others feel they have a ‘knowing’, trust their intuition and believe in signs from the universe.

Reverence is an awareness of something greater than ourselves.

A great depth of belief and respect for that greatness, whatever it is.

Admiration, a form of reverence, provides a purpose to some people. It gives them a reason to get up, live, and continue. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it’s not.

Meanwhile, thoughts impact actions; therefore you can observe and discover what people revere.

Family traditions and beliefs negatively impact a child if they are not encouraged to question or have independent thoughts.

When parents’ rigid thinking places expectations on a child, it creates pressure and potential feelings of inadequacy when strict requirements are unmet.

Obviously, reverence also has many benefits.

Reverence can cause awe and wonder, leading to deep respect.

For example, the wonder of our anatomy can lead to someone becoming a doctor who saves lives and engineers to create things we need that we don’t yet know we need.

Kids learning to meditate and trust their instincts is powerful.

Please encourage your child to be self-aware and to know their feelings matter.

Additionally, meditation can help children with their emotional regulation and stress levels.

Overall, it helps them focus on the present, the here and now and even helps them sleep better.

Who doesn’t need that?
