Sacrifice

Sacrifice is an opportunity to teach your child about values and priorities.

A mother starts by sacrificing her body so she can have a baby and bring life into this world.

Sacrifice is giving up something important for something more important.

For example, depending on their age it could be learning to share their things. Giving up a toy for the sake of friendship.

Or giving away some of their toys to children who have lost their toys due to a recent event such as a flood, house fire or just because they are not as fortunate as your child is.

For a young adult, it could be giving up screen time to spend time with family on family night. Or giving up screen time for the sake of their own mental health, especially if reading negative comments.

While things, or time, requires sacrifice it is often found that sacrifice is giving up something good for something even better.

Sometimes the consequence might be known beforehand, sometimes the joy is found along the way.
