Wisdom – you’ve got this

Wisdom – you’ve got this

3-9 December 2018

Wisdom, you’ve got this. Truly. Wisdom like you, is something that matures over time. It is being curious and independently investigating issues for yourself while also being openminded and listening to others, yet not taking on their perspectives or opinions just because it is shared with you.

You think, and act, for yourself and do what you feel is right for you regardless of whether everybody else is doing it or not. As children we often attempted to reason with our parents that ‘everyone else is going’, or ‘everyone else has one’ in the hope that that will be enough of a reason to do, or have, what ‘everyone else’ has.

Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. These situations are opportunities to have discussions about potential consequences and the concerns we have.

What actions, habits, beliefs or thoughts do you have that you have taken on because they were drilled into you by someone else such as a parent, by a friend, or as a child? Do you have financial beliefs that limit you? Solid views about race, religion, sexual orientation?

Take the initiative and use your discernment to consider whether you judge people and situations based on characteristics – theirs and yours – or because you have solid pre-conceived ideas of people and things. Are you willing to open your mind to explore within as well as to be curious about what others have to share with you?
